Ravi Khanna (Amitabh Bachchan) lives with his widowed mother, a wheelchair-bound sister, and a younger brother. He suffers from a terminal brain tumor and has little time to live. In an attempt to provide for his family, he claims responsibility for a murder that he did not commit, so that his family can collect the reward money. He leaves a trail for the police to follow, which leads to his apprehension. While in prison, Ravi suffers a heart attack and the jail authorities take him to the hospital where he undergoes an operation that successfully cures him of his illness. Now, in an attempt to escape capital punishment, he escapes from the hospital in search of the real murderer. Will Ravi succeed?
