Madan (Dev Anand) comes from a once well-to-do family. Times have changed and he is now out of luck and work, and lives in a shanty with his sick younger sister, Manju (Roopa Verman), who is undergoing treatment for TB. He meets and falls in love with Dr. Rajani. He finds employment as a gambler and develops a bond with Leena (Geeta Bali), a club dancer, but finds himself in a fix when he is arrested for murdering her. Did he really commit the crime or is he being framed? Can Dev prove his innocence?
