Vijay Choudhury (Jeetendra) lives a comfortable life with his wife Laxmi (Jaya Prada), and step-brother Ravi (Mithun Chakraborty). Although Vijay and Laxmi have been married for several years, they have no children and as a result, Laxmi is shunned and humiliated in the town. Meanwhile, Ravi finishes his education and marries his love, Lalita (Padmini Kolhapure) despite the fact that her family is at odds with his own. But Lalita wins over the Choudhury family. Soon, both the women get pregnant and while Laxmi gives birth to a baby boy, Lalita's child dies at birth and she's at a risk of losing her own life. It is then that Vijay and Laxmi decide to give their child to Lalita to save her from the trauma. Following this, the in-laws get involved, property issues begin to brew and misunderstandings crop up in the house, threatening to separate them all. Will this family be able to stay together despite all these adds?
