This classics of Indian cinema, based on humanistic psychology, recounts the tale of a progressive, kind jail-warden named Adinath (Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre), who rehabilitates six hardened prisoners, released on parole. He takes these notorious, often surly murderers and makes them work hard with him on a barren country farm. Under his guidance, they are reformed and eventually produce a great harvest, learning the satisfaction in hard work in the process. But the death of the warden at the hands of an enemy who wants no competition in the profitable market he controls, comes as a shock to the men. What will they do, now that they've lost their pillar of support? Will the now reformed men seek revenge and revert to their old ways?
