A poor farmer (Kanhaiyalal) has two half-brothers, Shiv (Jeetendra) and Moti (Sanjeev Kumar). He mortgages his farm with the local moneylender to borrow money for Moti's higher studies in law. When Moti completes his education with flying colors, the moneylender decides to marry his only daughter Radha (Nanda) to Moti. Unknown to them all, Radha and Shiv are in love with each other. Moti returns to the village and at an event, the moneylender announces Radha's marriage with him. But Moti is hiding a shocking secret. How does Shiv react to the news? What is Moti's big secret?
