A poor school teacher, Dinanath (Saeed Jaffrey) arranges his daughter, Shanti's (Pallavi Joshi) marriage to the son of a dowry-hungry man. Dinanath is unable to meet the dowry demands and pleads that he has given sufficient gold and jewellery to Shanti. The gold turns out to be fake, as a result of which the marriage is canceled; Shanti kills herself and Dinanath dies of a heart attack. Post their demise, Dinanath's son, Kundan (Mithun Chakraborty) is hungry to avenge their deaths by killing the person responsible. He gets tangled in a world of gangs, murder, lies and deceit. The story follows the journey of a man turned bandit trying to survive the consequences of his actions. Can he ever come back to a law abiding life?
